A 17-year-old male from Hanover has been formally charged following allegations that he unlawfully accessed a woman’s bank account and withdrew more than $800,000 without authorization.
According to reports from the Lucea police, the incident unfolded over a period spanning February to March 2026. Investigators say the teenager, who resides in the same household as the complainant, allegedly went through her personal belongings and took her debit card without her consent.
Suspicion arose when the woman noticed the unemployed teen in possession of a motorcycle reportedly valued at $190,000. This prompted her to examine her bank account, where she discovered multiple unauthorized withdrawals.
The matter was subsequently reported to the authorities, leading to an investigation. Following a question-and-answer session conducted in the presence of a relative and two justices of the peace, the teenager was charged with simple larceny.
He is expected to appear before the Hanover Family Court on Tuesday, March 31.
