Hanover Police Kill Notorious Gunman

Hanover, Jamaica (McKoy’s News) – Hanover Police Kill Notorious Gunman: A man who the Hanover police say is on top of the parish most wanted list, was shot and killed by the police on Sunday afternoon. The gunman was shot when he and a group of heavily armed men challenged the police in a shootout in Hopewell.

The police say the slain gunman has been identified as Christopher Roach, otherwise called Eye, of Elgin Town in Lucea.

The police also stated that further searches are still being carried out in the area for the other gunmen. One of the gunmen is believed to have been shot and wounded during the shooting.

Reports are that, shortly after 4:00 pm on Sunday, the police got intelligence that a group of armed men was seen driving around in the Hopewell area.

A team of officers attached to the Sandy Bay and Lucea stations rushed to the area. Upon arrival, they saw the men who immediately challenged them in a gun battle.

The gunbattle lasted close to two hours and the gunmen jumped from the vehicle and ran in various directions in a gully.

Hanover Police Kill Notorious Gunman: The lawmen gave chase, during the incident Roach was shot. An illegal firearm was also taken from him.

He was transported to the Noel Holmes Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The police say Roach was being sought for the 2015 murder of a Mannings High School student in Westmoreland, and the double murder of a Tour bus Operator and his wife in Mosquito Cove earlier this year. He was also being sought for several other murders throughout the parish.
