Port-au-Prince, Haiti – Haitian police, with support from the U.N.-backed Multinational Security Support Mission (MSS), successfully regained control of the Téléco telecommunications hub in Kenscoff after heavily armed gangs seized it last week.
The pre-dawn operation on Monday lasted about two hours and resulted in the recovery of numerous firearms, including automatic weapons with erased serial numbers, and over 1,000 rounds of ammunition. The gang occupation had briefly disrupted both air traffic and internet services.
MSS personnel, including forces from Kenya and Jamaica, described the operation as a rare success amid ongoing challenges with pervasive gang violence in the country. Authorities hailed the seizure of the hub as a major step toward restoring order in the capital.
