Hague Primary School in Trelawny has opened a state-of-the-art computer lab, equipped with 20 high-performance computers valued at $3.6 million. Sponsored by the Sandals Foundation and Coca-Cola Latin America, the lab provides crucial digital resources for more than 1,000 students.
At the handover ceremony, Principal Damion Elvin shared his gratitude, noting that this addition enables students to access digital tools they previously lacked. Student Elizabeth Haye highlighted how the lab prepares her and her peers for a technology-driven future, making learning more interactive and enjoyable.
Sandals Foundation representative Rochelle Forbes-Reid underscored the lab’s role in narrowing the digital divide. She praised its impact, seeing students eagerly use the technology for creative and educational pursuits.
Heidi Clarke, the foundation’s executive director, spoke of the lab’s potential to broaden students’ career prospects and social access, encouraging them to become not only users but also creators of technology.
The lab aims to cultivate digital literacy, enabling students to thrive academically and develop essential skills for the digital economy.
