10 Cuban Nationals Detained After Entering Jamaica Illegally

ST JAMES, Jamaica — The St James Police Division, alongside the Passport, Immigration, and Citizenship Agency (PICA), is processing ten Cuban nationals detained after reportedly entering Jamaica illegally over the weekend.

The Cubans, traveling in four boats, arrived in two separate groups. Seven were apprehended Saturday on the Unity Hall main road, while three others reached Rose Hall on Sunday morning, arriving near a popular hotel.

Authorities noted that two individuals, speaking some English, cited severe hardships as their reason for fleeing Cuba. Medical examinations are scheduled as part of the processing.
