St Andrew, Jamaica (Mckoy’s News) – Reports reaching Mckoy’s News is that the drive-by shooting death of a man this morning in the vicinity of Swallowfield, in the parish of St Andrew on Friday morning is that of a member of the notorious St-Andrew based Joel Andem gang.
The dead man has been identified as Rohan Masters.
Masters is believed to be a member of the St Andrew based Joel Andem gang, who was awaiting a murder trial at the time of his demise.
Reportedly Rohan Masters was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison, for the shooting death of a gas station owner 12 years ago, however, that conviction was overturned on appeal and a retrial was ordered by the Court of Appeal.
At the time of his killing, Masters was supposedly on bail, awaiting trial on a separate case of another murder, in which he was arrested for killing a man while he was out on bail for the gas station operator’s murder case.
The police report is that at about 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 2, Rohan Masters exited the Stadium Police Station on foot, heading in the direction of Swallowfield, when minutes later he was approached by gunmen travelling in a car, who fired multiple shots at him, before driving away.
The police were immediately alerted to the area of the gunfire and Masters was found unresponsive in a pool of his own blood, suffering from what appeared to be gunshot wounds to the upper part of his body.
He was transported to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
