St James, Jamaica – Two police officers were shot and injured while preventing a robbery at a supermarket on Church Street, St James, on Tuesday.
According to reports, officers from the St James Beat Officer Patrol Division (BOPD) intercepted a group of armed men attempting to rob the establishment, sparking a fierce gunfight. The suspects reportedly used both a high-powered weapon and a handgun during the exchange.
The injured officers were swiftly taken to the hospital and are in stable condition, according to the police.
Meanwhile, the gunmen managed to escape, and it is unclear whether any of them were injured during the shootout. Authorities have launched an investigation and are actively searching for the suspects.
The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) is urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward. Witnesses are encouraged to assist law enforcement in identifying and locating the perpetrators.
