Kingston, Jamaica (December 19, 2024) — Governor-General Sir Patrick Allen has successfully undergone elective spinal surgery and is now recovering well, according to a statement released from King’s House.
The 73-year-old Head of State, who has served in the role since 2009, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the medical team at the University Hospital of the West Indies, particularly the Tony Thwaites Wing staff. The surgical team, led by Dr. Carl Bruce, provided exceptional care during the procedure, which was carried out smoothly, and Sir Patrick Allen is now in the process of recovery.
“I would like to extend my sincere thanks to the entire medical team at the University Hospital, including Dr. Bruce and the staff of the Tony Thwaites Wing, for their professionalism and excellent care,” the Governor-General said. “I am deeply grateful to all those who have sent their well wishes and prayers during this time. Your support has been overwhelming, and I am truly appreciative.”
The Governor-General also expressed his gratitude to the Jamaican people for their continued prayers, support, and good wishes throughout the process.
