CLARENDON, Jamaica — Four suspects are now in police custody after law enforcement officers entered a building where the individuals had reportedly barricaded themselves following a shootout in Spalding, Clarendon, on Sunday.
According to initial reports, the suspects sought refuge in the building after police responded to an armed robbery at a supermarket in the rural town. The events unfolded shortly before 2:00 p.m., leading to an intense confrontation between law enforcement and the alleged gunmen.
During the reported gun battle, two alleged gunmen and two police officers were injured. Authorities also revealed that one of the injured officers is currently on suspension.
Following the incident, the police confirmed the seizure of four firearms, including an AK-47 rifle, which underscores the dangerous nature of the encounter.
The situation had initially escalated with reports of the suspects barricading themselves inside a building, prompting heightened police presence and community tension.
