Kingston, Jamaica – The Meteorological Service of Jamaica has issued a Flash Flood Warning for southern and northwestern parishes due to increased rainfall from a broad trough over the Western Caribbean. The warning, which remains in effect until 5 PM on Monday, affects low-lying and flood-prone areas in the following parishes: St. Thomas, Kingston and St. Andrew, St. Catherine, Clarendon, Manchester, St. Elizabeth, Westmoreland, Hanover, St. James, and Trelawny.
The broad trough is generating moderate to strong thunderstorms and is expected to bring unstable weather conditions across the island in the coming days. In addition to heavy rainfall, strong gusty winds are forecasted for southern parishes and offshore marine areas, posing potential dangers.
Fishers and other marine interests are urged to exercise caution as sea conditions are expected to deteriorate due to thunderstorms and high winds.
Residents in the affected areas are advised to take necessary precautions and stay alert for further updates from the Meteorological Service.
