A police operation in Thompson Pen, St Catherine, on Thursday morning ended in a fatal shooting involving a 37-year-old fisherman, authorities have confirmed.
The deceased has been identified as Demoy Campbell, a resident of the community.
According to police accounts, officers were carrying out an early morning operation around 7:30 a.m. targeting individuals listed as wanted when they reportedly came under gunfire from a man in the area. Lawmen say they responded, and Campbell was shot during the exchange.
He was transported to hospital for treatment but later succumbed to his injuries.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
