Ebony Vale, St. Catherine -The Spanish Town police have initiated a homicide investigation following the tragic death of a three-year-old boy, Rojaghn Anthony Hinds, on Sunday afternoon. The incident has left the tight-knit community in shock and mourning.
According to reports, the child’s father, a local businessman, returned home from church around 1:30 p.m. and placed his licensed Smith and Wesson nine-millimetre pistol under a couch inside the house. He then went outside to dispose of garbage into a truck that had just arrived.
Moments later, a loud explosion echoed through the neighborhood. The father rushed back inside the house to a heart-wrenching scene: his young son was bleeding from a head wound, cradled in his mother’s arms.
Authorities are working to determine the exact circumstances that led to the firearm discharge. The police have not yet disclosed further details, but they are conducting a thorough investigation to understand how the child gained access to the weapon.
Community members have expressed their grief and disbelief at the incident. “This is a terrible tragedy,” said one neighbor, who wished to remain anonymous. “We are all praying for the family during this incredibly difficult time.”
The Spanish Town police are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward as they seek to piece together the events that led to the tragic loss of such a young life.
