ST CATHERINE, Jamaica — A 36-year-old man has been sentenced to 11 years and 11 months in prison after pleading guilty to multiple charges related to the sexual abuse of his 13-year-old daughter.
The sentencing took place on Tuesday in the St Catherine Circuit Court.
The man received an 11-year and 11-month sentence for grievous sexual assault, along with two additional sentences of three years and two months for sexual touching and incest. All sentences will run concurrently, so he will serve a total of 11 years and 11 months.
The court heard that the acts were committed over several months, beginning in September 2021. The ordeal came to light when the victim confided in a relative, who then reported the matter to the Centre for Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse (CISOCA).
The father was subsequently arrested and charged.
