KINGSTON – A fatal police shooting in Kingston on Tuesday evening has become intertwined with the ongoing investigation into the disappearance of Kevin Walker, who is presumed dead. The deceased, believed to be a person of interest known as “Diamond,” has not been formally identified.
The incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. in the Nuttall Street and Last Street area. Police intercepted a stolen silver Toyota Probox, which had been taken earlier that day in the Kingston Central Division. The Probox was being driven recklessly, and when officers signaled the driver to stop, the occupants reportedly opened fire on the police. Officers returned fire, hitting “Diamond.” He was transported to the Kingston Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead. A 9mm pistol was recovered at the scene.
Police have confirmed that the victim of the carjacking positively identified “Diamond” as the person who robbed him.
Nineteen-year-old Tajay Thompson, also known as “Teco,” was also apprehended during the incident. His arrest brings the total number of individuals in custody in connection with Walker’s disappearance to four. Walker was last seen on February 2nd.
Two other suspects, Lavar Whitter and an individual known only as “Shano,” remain at large. The police are urging Whitter and Shano to surrender immediately and are appealing to the public for any information regarding their whereabouts. Anyone with information is asked to contact the police emergency at 119, Crime Stop at 311, the National Intelligence Bureau Tip Line at 811, or the nearest police station.
