A 30-year-old man was killed and several other people injured following a motor vehicle collision along the Tower Isle main road in St Mary on Sunday evening.
According to the police, shortly after 7:00 p.m., a Honda CR-V was travelling from Port Maria towards Ocho Rios when it collided head-on with a Toyota Succeed in the vicinity of Columbus Avenue.
The driver of the Toyota sustained serious injuries and had to be removed from the wreckage with assistance from personnel from the Port Maria Fire Department. He was later pronounced dead.
The man’s identity has not yet been released as the police are seeking to locate his wife.
Two children who were travelling in the Toyota were also injured and taken to hospital for treatment.
The driver of the Honda CR-V and his female passenger sustained injuries and also received medical attention.
Superintendent Anthony Wallace, head of the St Mary police division, said investigations are underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
