St James, Jamaica: Elderly Woman Killed – An elderly woman from St. James, who was being transported to Cornwall Regional Hospital after complaining of feeling ill at her home on Friday night, died when the vehicle in which she was travelling overturned along the roadway.
The deceased has been identified as 85-year-old Iclyn Whyte from the Green Pond community in St. James.
Reports indicate that on Friday night, Whyte was at home when she complained of feeling ill.
She was accompanied by three of her grandchildren to Cornwall Regional Hospital when, upon reaching a section of Vernons Drive in the parish, the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn.
Whyte and the other occupants of the vehicle sustained injuries and were taken to the hospital in a different vehicle. Unfortunately, Whyte was pronounced dead upon arrival, while the other victims were treated.
