MANCHESTER, Jamaica — A 79-year-old man lost his life Friday evening after being struck by a public passenger vehicle along the Prospect main road in Manchester.
The deceased has been identified as Trevor Williams, a resident of Prospect in the parish.
According to police reports, the incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. Williams was reportedly walking along the roadway when a white Toyota Hiace Commuter traveling northbound collided with him. The vehicle, which operates as a public passenger minibus, was driven by a 49-year-old man at the time of the crash.
Williams sustained serious injuries and was transported to hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the collision are ongoing.
