Driver Warned for Prosecution following Freak Accident which Claimed Elderly Man’s Life

Jamaica Crime News, Trelawny: Daniel McCallum, the 21-year-old mechanic of Peel Street in Falmouth, Trelawny, who was the driver of the ill-fated car, which claimed the life of an elderly man along Peel Street, on Tuesday, June 11, has now been warned for prosecution.

McCallum’s vehicle was involved in a freak accident which claimed the life of 75-year-old, Mannasie Hall, also of Peel Street.

Reports by the Falmouth police are that about 4:30 p.m., on Tuesday, Hall was riding his bicycle along a section of Peel Street.

On reaching a section of the roadway, McCallum who was the driving a Nissan AD Wagon motor car, allegedly lost control of the vehicle which slammed into a section of a bridge and overturned on top of Hall.

Hall was trapped underneath the vehicle for over half an hour and after being pulled free, he was rushed to the Falmouth hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
