ST. JAMES – A streak of relative calm in the community’s enhanced security zone came to a violent end Monday night, as gunfire claimed the lives of two men.
The victims, who remain unidentified as of Tuesday morning, were found in the Hollywood area with multiple gunshot wounds. Authorities have not confirmed their identities, though some reports indicate they may have been brothers.
In response to the killings, police imposed a curfew in the affected zone while launching a full-scale investigation. Senior Superintendent Eron Samuels, commanding officer for St. James, confirmed that detectives are pursuing all leads and intensifying patrols.
Samuels emphasized that the police remain undeterred by the incident and are committed to preventing further violence. “We are focused on ensuring there is no recurrence in this area. Our operations will be strengthened, and proven strategies will continue to safeguard the community,” he stated.
Residents in the zone, which had been free from murder for more than a year, are now facing increased law enforcement presence as authorities work to restore order and maintain public safety.
