CLARENDON, Jamaica — Delroy Dawson of the People’s National Party (PNP) has secured a narrow victory in the Aenon Town Division by-election, defeating the Jamaica Labour Party’s (JLP) Suzette Barton.
Preliminary results from the Electoral Office of Jamaica (EOJ) show Dawson winning with 1,646 votes, or 50.8 per cent, while Barton received 1,592 votes, representing 49.2 per cent.
The voter turnout was recorded at 46.8 per cent, reflecting moderate participation in the poll.
This win is seen as a significant moment for the PNP as it seeks to solidify its position ahead of the upcoming General Election. Party supporters have hailed the victory as evidence of their readiness to compete at the national level.
