ST CATHERINE, Jamaica — A university student is facing serious charges following a deadly highway crash in March that claimed four lives, including an eight-year-old boy.
Kengu Black, daughter of prominent Manchester businessman and political activist Skeng Don (real name Kenneth Black), appeared before the St Catherine Parish Court on Monday, where she was charged with four counts of causing death by dangerous driving. She was granted $800,000 bail with surety, following an application by her attorney, Christopher Townsend.

In granting bail, Acting Senior Parish Court Judge Janelle Nelson-Gayle ordered Black to surrender her travel documents and submit her fingerprints to the authorities. The case is set to return to court on February 6, 2026.
According to reports, shortly after midnight on March 30, 2025, Black was driving a 2022 model Mercedes SUV along the PJ Patterson Highway when she collided with a Toyota Probox, which had earlier hit the median and overturned. The occupants, reportedly exiting the overturned vehicle, were struck by Black’s SUV.
The tragic accident claimed the lives of 22-year-old Tyesha Manhertz, 29-year-old Wendy Lammie, 27-year-old Andre McLeish, and eight-year-old Trey Stewart. Both vehicles were extensively damaged.
Following an investigation, Black was formally charged and warned of prosecution.
