KINGSTON, Jamaica — After years away in the United States, internationally acclaimed dancehall artiste David ‘Mavado’ Brooks made a triumphant return to Jamaica, landing in Kingston on Tuesday night from Miami, Florida.
The Cassava Piece, St Andrew native made a quick pit stop for a coconut jelly to “wash off his heart” before heading to a late-night boardroom meeting at the S Hotel in Kingston, blending a touch of local flavour with business-minded purpose.
Upon arrival, Mavado was warmly greeted by Delano Seiveright, Member of Parliament for St Andrew North Central and Minister of State in the Ministry of Industry, Investment & Commerce. Also in attendance was Senator Abka Fitz-Henley, minister in the Office of the Prime Minister, making it a night of music, politics, and celebration.
Fans and onlookers expressed excitement at seeing the dancehall heavyweight back on home soil, with many noting that his return marks a significant moment for the local music and entertainment scene.
