A 48-hour curfew has been imposed in the Pleasant Heights and Oliver Road areas of Rockfort, Kingston, following the tragic shooting death of five people during a football match on Monday, October 21. The curfew, which began at 8:00 p.m. on Monday, will remain in place until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 23.
The boundaries of the curfew encompass key sections of the area:
- North: Along Pleasant Heights Road, from the marl pit to Hillside Crescent.
- East: From Windward Road, near Doech Road, up to Hillside Crescent.
- South: Along Windward Road, from Doech Road to Oliver Road.
- West: Along Oliver Road, from Windward Road to the marl pit at Pleasant Heights Road.
During the curfew, all residents within the specified boundaries are required to stay inside their homes unless explicitly authorized by the curfew’s ground commander.
The curfew comes after a shocking incident in which five individuals were shot and killed at a community football match in the eastern part of Kingston. Several others were injured, though the exact number of those wounded has not been disclosed. Law enforcement officials are working to restore calm in the community, which has been rocked by the violence.
Authorities continue to investigate the motive behind the attack and are urging residents to comply with the curfew regulations for their safety.
