Couple Dies After Car Plunges 1,300ft Cliff During Steamy Sex Session

BRAZIL — What was meant to be a romantic night under the stars turned into a fatal freefall for a couple in south-eastern Brazil after their car tumbled off a 1,300-foot cliff while they were reportedly making love inside the vehicle.

The victims have been identified as Adriana Machado Ribeiro, 42, and Marcone da Silva Cardoso, 26 — a couple who had been dating for about six months.

Reports are that after a night out partying with Marcone’s brother and his girlfriend on Sunday, August 3, the lovers dropped the other couple home and then drove to a popular hang-gliding launch site in Venda Nova do Imigrante for some private time.

But tragedy struck shortly after 1:00 AM on Monday, when police believe the car — parked close to the edge — rolled off the cliff and plunged 400 metres (approximately 1,300 feet).

Investigators say the pair were likely thrown from the car after it struck a rock roughly 100 metres into the deadly descent. The car continued tumbling another 300 metres before coming to a crumpled stop far below.

A caretaker clearing land on the private property made the grisly discovery around 7:00 AM, when he stumbled upon the wrecked vehicle — and not far from it, the bodies of the couple, found completely naked.

“There were no signs of violence at the scene or on the bodies,” said Police Officer Alberto Roque Peres, who is leading the investigation. He confirmed that the handbrake had been engaged, ruling out foul play for now.

Cops believe the movement and shifting weight inside the parked vehicle might have caused it to creep forward and eventually tip over the edge in the dark, remote location.

Nearby residents say they heard a loud crash sometime between 1:30 AM and 2:00 AM, but due to the heavy vegetation and darkness, no one realized what had happened.

Marcone’s body was discovered at the foot of the cliff, while firefighters had to battle rugged terrain to recover Adriana’s remains.

Loved ones say the couple shared a peaceful, happy relationship — no history of conflict, no police records. Marcone, originally from Belo Horizonte, had recently relocated and worked as a machine operator. Adriana, a beloved figure in her community, had spent 16 years working at her mother’s bakery. She leaves behind a daughter and son from a previous relationship.

The heart-wrenching accident has sent shockwaves through the small community, as friends and family try to come to terms with the tragic loss of two lives — cut short in the most unexpected way.
