A police officer who has been charged with a slew of criminal offences stemming from an altercation in which he reportedly handcuffed his girlfriend and abused her physically and sexually was denied bail last week in court.
The accused, Ryan Anderson, a Portland Police Division officer, appeared before St Mary Parish Court.
Anderson faces rape, aggravated sexual assault, three counts of assault occasioning bodily harm, unlawful wounding, and malicious destruction of property.
Following his attorney’s unsuccessful bail application, the matter was rescheduled for January 13, 2022.
It is Alleged that, Anderson and the woman got into a dispute between November 13 and November 29 of this year after he accused her of being unfaithful to him.
During the altercation, the cop allegedly handcuffed his lover and severely beaten and sexually assauted her.
According to reports, the lawman burned some of his girlfriend’s clothing during their argument.
The woman subsequently filed a police report, and an investigation was launched.
A file was submitted to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), which determined over the weekend that Anderson should face charges.
He was later arrested and charged with charges related to the alleged altercation.
