Portmore, St Catherine — Constable Odane Davidson, the traffic cop accused of soliciting a $10,000 bribe from a motorist, was acquitted on Wednesday night in the Portmore Night Court.
Parish Judge Janelle Nelson-Gayle upheld a no-case submission, ruling that the evidence against Davidson was weak, inconsistent, and based on speculation.
Davidson, who denied the allegations, was charged under the Corruption Prevention Act after a 2023 sting operation. But defence attorneys pointed out that the body cam footage failed to show any money exchange, and the complainant’s ID was shaky — mistaking another officer wearing glasses, when Davidson wore none.
In the end, the judge ruled there was no solid proof, and the constable was found not guilty on all charges.
