Spanish Town, Jamaica — The Director of Public Prosecutions has ruled that Constable Kevin Dilworth will face murder charges after allegedly shooting 47-year-old Conrad Mahaber during a traffic altercation on August 22, 2023.
Dilworth, a 36-year-old officer from Spanish Town, reportedly fired his weapon after Mahaber threw soup at him and attempted to retrieve a firearm.
On Tuesday, Dilworth was granted bail of $400,000 by Senior Parish Court Judge Yvette Wenthworth-Miller. His attorney, Althea Grant, argued he poses no flight risk, citing his 13 years of service in the Jamaica Constabulary Force. Dilworth must report to the Spanish Town police twice a week and will appear in court for committal proceedings on February 7, 2025. He also faces a charge for using a firearm to commit a felony .
The shooting investigation was conducted by the Independent Commission of Investigations alongside the Inspectorate and Professional Standards Oversight Bureau .
