KINGSTON, Jamaica — A robust cold front is set to move into the western Caribbean on Saturday, bringing a noticeable shift in weather conditions across Jamaica from Saturday night into the early part of next week, according to the Meteorological Service.
Forecasters say the system will result in markedly cooler temperatures islandwide, alongside strong and gusty winds. These winds are expected to be most intense in northern parishes and elevated areas.
Residents should also prepare for overcast skies and more frequent showers, which are likely to affect most sections of the island during the period.
Marine interests, including fishers, are being urged to exercise caution. The Meteorological Service warns that sea conditions will worsen as very strong winds—approaching near gale force—develop from Saturday night through early next week.
The Meteorological Service has indicated that it will closely track the progress of the cold front and provide further updates as conditions evolve.
