A British national was arrested and charged following the seizure of a quantity of cocaine during a routine check at Sangster’s International Airport in Montego Bay, St James, last Sunday, June 16.
The accused has been identified as 25-year-old Faina Rwenhamo from London, England.
She has subsequently been charged with possession of cocaine, dealing in cocaine, attempting to export cocaine, and conspiracy to export cocaine.
Reports indicate that around 3:30 pm, Rwenhamo was attempting to board a flight destined for the United Kingdom when her luggage was searched. Several wooden craft items were found during the search.
Upon closer examination, the crafts were found to contain cocaine weighing 1.6 kilograms, with a street value of approximately $7.5 million.
She is scheduled to appear before the St James Parish Court next Wednesday.
