Clarendon, Jamaica – Detectives are probing a dramatic incident in Osbourne Store, Clarendon, after a former soldier was shot and a suspected explosive device discovered on Tuesday afternoon.
Reports are that about 1 p.m., the ex-Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) member, who hails from York Town, went to an auto parts store demanding a refund for defective car parts he had previously purchased.
Police say the man arrived carrying a black plastic bag which he claimed contained a bomb. He allegedly threatened to blow up the establishment if his demands were not met.
Investigators report that he attempted to enter the office when the business owner, who is a licensed firearm holder, opened fire, shooting him in the shoulder.
The injured man was taken to hospital under police guard, and the suspected device was secured by lawmen pending further examination.
Police investigations are ongoing.
