Chinese Nationals Arrested for Counterfeit Goods Valuing over 300 Million JMD

Kingston, Jamaica (McKoy’s News) – Two Chinese Nationals have been charged by investigators from the Counter Terrorism and Organized Crime Unit, following the seizure of a large quantity of counterfeit goods valued at approximately JMD 300 million, during an operation carried out on Princess Street in downtown Kingston on Wednesday, April 4.

They have been identified as 40-year-old Zhang Timpim of Lords Road in Kingston 5 and Yang Zhao of Halifax Avenue in Kingston 8.

Both accused have been charged with unauthorized use of Trademark, Breaches of the Customs Act and Misleading and Deceptive Conduct.

Reports are that about 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, members of the police party searched several shops in the downtown areas of Kingston.

During the search, several hundreds of shoes, bags, clothing, phone cases and other counterfeit goods were discovered and seized.

Five persons, including four male and a female who were at the business establishments were arrested.

They were subsequently charged and are booked to appear in court on Wednesday, May 2.
