Clarendon, Jamaica — Firefighters discovered the charred remains of a 33-year-old man following a blaze that consumed a one-bedroom board dwelling in an area known as Capture Land, Lionel Town, Clarendon.
The deceased is believed to be Kenroy Simpson, a resident of Capture Land.
According to police reports, they were alerted to the fire by residents around 3:50 am on Saturday. Upon arrival, first responders found the house completely engulfed in flames. After extinguishing the fire, they discovered the charred remains of a male near the front door. The body appeared to have a broken right hand.
Firefighters’ initial assessments suggested the presence of a possible accelerant near where the body was found, although the exact cause of the fire remains undetermined. A machete was also discovered next to the body.
It appears that no one else was present in the home at the time of the fire.
The police are currently investigating the incident to determine the circumstances surrounding the blaze and the death of the individual.
