Jamaica Crime News, St Catherine: The Spanish Town Police have indicated that, the Caretaker for the Church Of God of Prophecy located at Old Harbor Road, in Spanish Town, who was taken into custody by the police for questioning, in connection with the death of a Minster of Religion on Thursday afternoon, September 20, has now been released.
According to one police source, the Caretaker who was considered a person of interest in connection with the murder of 29-year-old Pastor James Johnson of Union Estate in St Catherine, was questioned and recently released.
The police have reported that following the shooting all attempts were made to locate the caretaker but without success.
Recently an operation was carried out at his home, in Spanish Town and he was arrested after he was allegedly found hiding in the ceiling of his house.
Reports by the police are that shortly after 5:00 p.m., Pastor Johnson was in the middle of teaching a class, at the Church Of God of Prophecy located on Old Harbor road in Spanish Town, when a man entered the building.
The man brandished a handgun and walked up to Reverend Johnson, opened fire and hit him multiple times before exiting the building.
Persons within the church ran and sought safety on the outside.
The police were summoned and upon arrival, the pastor was discovered lying in a pool of blood.
He was transported to hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
