A Canadian visitor has died after a fall from a commercial plaza in Negril, prompting an ongoing police investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The deceased has been identified as 59-year-old Cynthia Bedard of Montreal, Montreal. According to reports from the police, Bedard fell from a balcony at Sunshine Village Plaza in the West End area on Wednesday night.
Emergency responders transported her to hospital in critical condition, but she later died from her injuries.
Authorities have confirmed that inquiries into the incident are still in progress. Meanwhile, the Canadian High Commission in Jamaica has been engaged, with the Canadian Ambassador visiting the scene following the tragedy.
