Odane Hibbert granted bail

Business Operator Granted $300,000 Bail in Alleged Cocaine Case

Business operator Odane Hibbert was granted bail in the sum of $300,000 following a bail application by his attorney, Able-Don Foote, in court on Friday.

Hibbert was allegedly attempting to leave the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston when irregularities were detected in his suitcase during screening.

A subsequent search allegedly uncovered a false compartment containing approximately three pounds of a white powdery substance resembling cocaine.

During the bail hearing, Foote argued that Hibbert is presumed innocent and is entitled to bail under the 2023 Bail Act.

The attorney also told the court that Hibbert has no previous convictions and has strong ties to Jamaica through his business interests.

As part of his bail conditions, Hibbert was ordered to report to the police once weekly. Stop orders were also placed at all ports of entry and exit.

He is scheduled to return to court on December 17.
