ST ANDREW, JAMAICA — Police have upgraded a shooting incident to a murder investigation following the death of a man who was attacked more than two weeks ago in Bull Bay.
The deceased has been identified as 39-year-old Dwayne Dacres, a mechanic of the 12 Miles community in Bull Bay, St Andrew.
According to reports, Dacres was shot around 9:30 p.m. on June 5 by unknown assailants. The attackers reportedly fled the scene, leaving him severely wounded. He was rushed to Kingston Public Hospital, where he remained in critical condition for over two weeks.
He succumbed to his injuries on Monday, prompting police to reclassify the case as a homicide.
The Yallahs Criminal Investigations Branch in St Thomas has since launched a full-scale murder investigation into the incident. No arrests have yet been made, and police are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.
The motive behind the attack remains unclear at this time.
