ST ANN, Jamaica— A 54-year-old janitor has been charged with larceny as a servant after allegedly stealing $286,300 from a business establishment in Brown’s Town, St Ann.
The accused, Arland Martin, who resides in Brown’s Town, was arrested following an investigation into missing funds at his workplace.
According to reports from the Brown’s Town Police, the manager of the establishment identified discrepancies in two separate transactions. A review of records revealed that $140,300 was missing in October and another $146,000 in December.
Further investigations, including a review of surveillance footage, confirmed that Martin accessed the company’s vault on two occasions and removed the cash.
A report was subsequently made to the police, leading to Martin’s arrest. He has since been charged with larceny as a servant, and his court date is to be determined.
