Hanover Farmer Charged with Murder

Lucea, Hanover: A farmer from Pell River in Hanover is now facing murder charges following a fatal shooting last year.

Romaine Cunningham, 32, also known as ‘Mango’, was arrested and charged on December 28, 2024, for the murder of 41-year-old Sheldon Salmon, a labourer from the same community.

The incident occurred on January 21, 2024, at approximately 8:40 p.m. According to the Green Island Police, Salmon was at his home when several men knocked on his door, claiming to be police officers. When Salmon refused to open the door, the men reportedly forced entry and opened fire, striking Salmon multiple times. The assailants then fled the scene.

Salmon was subsequently transported to the hospital for treatment but succumbed to his injuries on December 26, 2024.
Following his arrest, Cunningham was interviewed in the presence of his lawyer and subsequently charged with murder.

The investigation into this matter continues.
