The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) has commenced a probe into the fatal shooting of a man in the Davyton community, Manchester, on Saturday morning.
The deceased has been identified as 41-year-old Andre Knight, otherwise called ‘Boxer,’ a construction worker from the Davyton community.
Reports indicate that around 4:30 am, the police, armed with a search warrant, went to a premises in Davyton to execute the document.
It is further reported that upon entering the premises, the lawmen were confronted by a man who allegedly pulled a firearm on them. The officers stated that they were forced to take evasive action and opened fire, hitting the now deceased multiple times. An illegal handgun was allegedly taken from him.
Knight was transported to the Mandeville Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
