Body of Man Swept Away by Floodwaters Found in St Andrew

KINGSTON, Jamaica — The body of a man who was swept away by floodwaters during Tuesday’s heavy rains has been discovered near Majesty Gardens in St Andrew. He was one of two people caught in a gully on Content Drive, off Molynes Road, during the torrential downpour.

The second person, a woman, was rescued by residents on Chesterfield Drive in Seaview Gardens and taken to the hospital for treatment.

Authorities say the pair were attempting to cross the gully when they were overwhelmed by the rushing waters triggered by heavy rainfall across sections of Kingston and St Andrew. While the woman was successfully pulled to safety, the search for the man ended tragically with the recovery of his body.

Officials are urging the public to exercise caution during severe weather, warning of the dangers of crossing flooded areas. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
