The body of 19-year-old Chrisan Steele has been recovered after being swept away in the Wag Water River during heavy rains on Thursday. Steele’s body was found around 11 a.m. on Saturday in the Flint River area of Castleton by a search team consisting of residents, police officers, and family members.
Steele was washed away along with a male friend, Omar Skyers, while the two were reportedly swimming during a visit to Castleton Gardens from Kingston. The popular leisure spot became dangerous when the river, swollen from heavy rainfall, swept the pair away.
The search for Skyers is still ongoing, despite challenging weather conditions continuing to affect parts of St. Mary. Local authorities, along with volunteers, are combing the area in hopes of locating him.
