Another disturbing twist in Jamaica’s crime wave—a body believed to be that of 43-year-old contractor Humphrey Brown was discovered in a shallow grave in Thetford, Old Harbour on Thursday, leaving the community in shock and his family devastated.
Brown, who lived in Willodene, Spanish Town, had been missing since July 11 after he received a late-night call and left home in his Mercedes-Benz—never to be seen again.
“He Just Get a Call and Left… That Was the Last Time We Saw Him”
According to relatives, the father of two was last seen around 11:50 p.m. The next morning, there was no trace of him or his vehicle, sparking days of search and fear.
Police, acting on intelligence, swooped down on a remote area in Old Harbour, where they uncovered what appeared to be a hastily dug grave. Inside: a decomposing body, believed to be Humphrey Brown.
In a major development, police have taken two men into custody in connection with the case. The suspects were picked up in Linstead on Tuesday, but their identities are being withheld pending further investigation.
Sources say investigators are pursuing leads that the contractor may have been lured to his death—possibly over a business dispute or robbery. Forensic tests are now underway to officially confirm the body’s identity.
Residents and loved ones gathered near the crime scene expressed rage and heartbreak.
“Dem lure him out, man. He was a good, quiet soul… always working,” one family friend told McKoy’s News.
Another added: “All now di Benz cyan’t find. Dis look planned out long time.”
