Dear Mckoy: Blackmailed by my Lover

I found out that my husband was cheating on me last year and decided to get even, so I started a relationship with my neighbor not knowing that it would become such a disaster. He usually comes over when my husband leaves for work and we would spend hours together. After a while I began to feel guilty and decided to end the relationship. Now this guy refuses to end it and threatens to tell my husband about our affair if I stop having sex with him.

Just last week, he came over after my husband left for work and forcibly had sex with me. Now I am caught between a rock and a hard place because I can neither report the rape to the police nor tell my husband what happened because he can be extremely abusive.

Please help me, I need your advice.

I would suggest you report the rape incident to the police and also let them know that you are being blackmailed. However, getting the police involved would mean that your husband will become aware of your infidelity. If it reaches this point, you can ask him for forgiveness and suggest to him that you both see a marriage counselor to fix the the problems in the marriage and deal with his anger issues. Remember, you are not the only one that has broken the vows.
