Montego Bay, St. James — A woman popularly known as Bad Russian was found dead early Saturday morning after her apartment went up in flames in the Catherine Hall area of Montego Bay.
Reports are that around 4:00 a.m., residents of June Plum Avenue heard the female screaming for help as thick smoke and fire engulfed her upstairs apartment. Neighbours tried desperately to assist but were forced back by the intense flames.
Two units from the Barnett Street Fire Station responded and managed to extinguish the blaze before it could spread to other parts of the building. However, after the fire was brought under control, firefighters and police discovered the charred, nude body of the woman inside the apartment.
Sources say that she and her boyfriend, who was reportedly seen outside the apartment after the incident, had a rocky relationship and were heard arguing throughout the previous day.
It was also revealed that she is a past student of Rusea’s High School in Hanover.
The police have since launched a full investigation into the incident. Detectives are treating the death as suspicious, given the circumstances and the couple’s reported history of disputes.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the Montego Bay Police at 876-952-2333 or the nearest police station.
McKoy’s News will provide further updates as the investigation continues.
