St. Andrew, Jamaica (McN) – Gunfire rang out on the school grounds of Half-Way Tree, St. Andrew Preparatory School on Wednesday morning, April 5, as a brazen gunman attempted to kidnap a female parent.
St Andrew prep reports that the shooting happened in the vicinity of students who had to be rush for covering inside the classrooms, under desks. Luckily no one was injured in the shooting.
Police report that a parent dropped her child to school when moments later she was confronted by the gunman, who forced his way into her car and attempted to abduct her.
The woman in an attempt to save herself drove her car onto the school grounds of the private school, and crashed it into a parked vehicle, jumped out of it and began to make her escape.
Mckoy’s News got reports that the gunman was challenged in a shootout by a licensed firearm holder who witnessed the drama unfold.
News of the incident reached parents quickly, who arrived and collected their children.
Classes were dismissed yesterday and the students are prepared to receive counseling coordinated by the school.
Police are investigating the incident.
