At only 12-years-old, St. Jago High School Brianna Lyston is rightfully deem the next Bolt of track and field, as she clocked 23.46 in the 200 m at the Jamaica Boys and Girls Champs, held at the national stadium.
At the age of 12, the ‘next Bolt’ runs close enough to the world record holder, the late Florence Griffiths -Joyner, who holds the record of 21.34 for the 200 m.
Lyston was equally impressive in the 100-metre finals where she won with a race time of 11.86 seconds, 0.20 seconds clear of the runner-up.
In a style similar of eight-time Olympic champion Bolt, Lyston swept all before her in the 100m and 200m events – setting a record time in the latter while easing up before the finish line.
