Prime Minister Andrew Holness Wants Lands in Barbican for NHT Development

Kingston. Jamaica (McKoy’s News) – Prime Minister Andrew Holness Wants Lands in Barbican: Prime Minister Andrew Holness yesterday gave instructions for the National Housing Trust (NHT) to locate lands in the Barbican area so that housing can be provided for persons who currently are not receiving any benefits from the NHT.

The Prime Minister was speaking to residents in Barbican Square at a town hall meeting hosted by his office in relation to outlining plans for the Barbican Roadway Improvement Project. Holness gave instructions to the NHT after expressing his concerns over the conditions of housing in some sections of the Barbican area, such as Grants Pen.

Other prominent persons who addressed the town hall meeting included Communications Manager for the National Works Agency (NWA) Stephen Shaw, Member of Parliament Delroy Chuck and Minister without portfolio in the Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation, Dr Horace Chang.

The Barbican project, which is set to cost US$4.4 million, and scheduled to be completed by December, will allow for better traffic management, and the enhancement of commercial activities in that area.
