Hanover, Jamaica: Alleged Serial Rapist Taken into Custody – A taxi operator who plies the Hopewell to Montego Bay route was taken into custody on charges of abduction and attempted rape after allegedly attempting to sexually molest a schoolgirl in Unity Hall, St. James, last week.
Reports indicate that the female student, who resides in Anchovy, was seeking a taxi along a section of Barrett Street in Montego Bay when the taxi operator, driving a white Toyota Voxy bus, pulled up beside her.
She told the driver her destination, and he picked her up. However, upon reaching the Reading and Long Hill Stoplight intersection, he continued along the highway to a section of Unity Hall, where he attempted to rape the student.
She managed to escape and was assisted by two men in the area, after which the driver sped away. The student took a photo of his license plate with her cell phone.
A report was made to the police, and following investigations, the taxi operator was apprehended in Hanover on Monday.
The police say he has not yet been charged, as he will have to face an identification parade. However, they reported that this individual has been picked up on rape charges on numerous occasions and has actually gone to prison for similar offenses some time ago.
