One man who was reported to be among a group of men who fired at the police in Shrewsbury community, Westmoreland, on Thursday afternoon, January 13, was fatally shot by the police.
The identity of the deceased has not yet been released by the police, and it is not yet known if an illegal firearm was recovered.
Reports by the Withorne police are that about 2:00pm, the police were on operation in Shrewsbury community, when they were allegedly attacked and fired upon by men armed with guns.
The police say they returned the fire, which led to one of the gunmen being shot and killed during the exchange of gunfire.
The scene was processed by personnels from the Area One Crime Scene Unit, and a team from Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM).
