An alleged gunman was fatally shot by the police in Seaforth, St Thomas, on Saturday evening.
The deceased has been identified as 26-year-old Franco Campbell, also known as ‘Alex,’ of Seaforth Capture Land in the parish.
According to reports, around 7:00 PM, a police patrol encountered armed men in the area. The men reportedly opened fire on the officers, who then returned fire in self-defense.
After the exchange of gunfire, Campbell was found with gunshot wounds. A 9mm semi-automatic pistol with a magazine containing six live rounds was recovered from him.
The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) has launched an investigation into the incident.
